Supreme Court and the Constitution: Reevaluate Immunity Rulings for Presidents

The Issue

I stand before you as a deeply concerned citizen. Recent Supreme Court decisions on the immunity of a sitting President have left me, along with others, feeling betrayed and disconnected from the principles that our great nation was built upon. The United States constitution does not allow immunity for obstructing justice and violating the peaceful transition of power following an election. Handing these decisions of what is official vs unofficial down to lower courts is an absolute betrayal of their duty and responsibility to our constitution and our citizens. They are not doing their job and avoiding the difficult task of being a justice without influence. If we do not have a solid functioning Supreme Court, our country will be doomed to be defined by something of irreparable harm.

The United States Supreme Court is the highest law making governance of our land. It decides what is constitutional and what’s not. The elected justices have a duty to never be partial, to not flirt with or engage with people outside that have influence, and to be objective in their decision making that directly upholds our constitution.

Unfortunately, the recent Supreme Court decision seems to directly contradict this. It not only undermines our democratic values but also sets a dangerous precedent for future administrations. According to a study by the Brookings Institute, executive immunity limits government accountability, infringes upon our basic democratic principles, and ultimately erodes public trust in our judicial system (Brookings, 2020).

We must now unite to send a powerful message to our judiciary. Their role is pivotal in upholding the constitution and they should not ignore its guiding principles to pave the way for authoritarian practices. We call on the Supreme Court to reevaluate their ruling on the immunity of a President, bearing in mind the ethos of our constitution and the intrinsic value of justice in our society.

To protect our democracy, the sanctity of our constitution should never be compromised. We urge our fellow Americans to rise in solidarity, demanding the Supreme Court to uphold the true intent and spirit of our guiding light - the Constitution. Sign this petition and join the fight for justice.

The Supreme Court has grossly become another segment of our government which is being influenced. Clarence Thomas has trips paid for by political donors. This is illegal. The oath the justices committed to is now being infiltrated and no longer our strongest form of government oversight. Our Supreme Court has justices violating the trust of the people and no longer can be trusted. Please sign to send your message.

We the people will not stand for this assault on our democracy and will go to Washington and march in front of the House of the Supreme Court to show our own admonishment of these decisions that further threaten our democracy. The Supreme Court needs to be held accountable. Thank you for your time and interest in this very important ruling. Your opinion matters.
