Supporting Safe and Inclusive Scooter Use in DNV Skate Parks

Supporting Safe and Inclusive Scooter Use in DNV Skate Parks
The Issue
Scooters have become one of the most common ways children and youth in the District of North Vancouver enjoy outdoor recreation, and many already use local skate parks as their primary place to ride. No bylaw exists that bans scooters from District skate parks, yet access is still restricted based on outdated policies and signage. We believe it is time for these rules to be updated to reflect current use and promote safety for all riders.
We are residents of the District of North Vancouver writing to express our support for the District reviewing and piloting the inclusion of scooters in skate parks through a safe, structured, and well-managed approach.
We encourage the District to explore options such as pilot programs, designated times or areas, and clear signage or guidelines that reflect current community use while maintaining a strong focus on safety for everyone.
