The Issue

As a dedicated yoga professional, I am deeply committed to the advancement and protection of the yoga industry. Although I have no personal gain from this cause, my love for my profession compels me to advocate for more secure and professional standards through legislative measures.

Yog Front and YogX have been at the forefront of this initiative. Since 2019, they have consistently lobbied the Prime Minister's Office and the Supreme Court of India, submitting a draft law in June 2023 aimed at enacting crucial yoga legislation. Their ambition is not merely to advance personal or political agendas but to establish a robust framework that fosters the integrity, safety, and quality of yoga practice across the nation.

Our primary goals are to prevent the defamation of yoga practices, such as mislabeling under terms like "nude yoga," and to establish standardized UGC-degree-based recruitment processes that ensure minimum salaries for yoga professionals. We believe this will promote respect and recognition for those whose lives are dedicated to teaching and upholding the true essence of yoga.

To further support the professionalization of yoga, we are calling for the creation of a National Yoga Sports Authority, which would be responsible for organizing, regulating, and promoting competitive yoga on a national level. This authority would help elevate the perception of yoga from merely a spiritual or fitness routine to a recognized national sport.

Additionally, we seek the establishment of a separate Yoga Council. This council would oversee developments in the industry, implement unified fee structures, and create a national registration board to ensure that all yoga institutions adhere to high standards of safety and quality. Under the current system—dominated by YCB systems—qualified professionals are undermined, negatively impacting the overall quality of yoga education and practice.

Yoga is more than just a physical exercise; it is a way of life that deserves respect, dignity, and regulation just like any other professional field. By supporting the call for yoga legislation, you can help elevate the profession, protect its reputation, and professionalize it for the betterment of all practitioners.

Sign this petition to show your support for the advancement of yoga and the creation of a systematic, respected, and regulated industry that benefits practitioners, professionals, and enthusiasts alike.

Prevent non-yoga professionals from entering the yogic field to maintain purity and authenticity.

About Yog Front & Our Fight
Yog Front has been at the forefront of demanding yoga legislation since 2019. We were the first to raise this crucial matter in front of the Supreme Court, Law Ministry, AYUSH Ministry, PMO, Prime Minister, and State Governments.

We have not only raised the matter but also framed a comprehensive sample yoga legislation draft which was submitted to the Ministry of

AYUSH on 31st June 2023 at AYUSH Bhawan.
The founder of Yog Front & YogX started awareness programs to educate and gather people about this fight through social media, songs, and meetings. This effort has led to more than 350 complaints registered all over India.

The YCB Problem
Systems like Yoga Certification Board (YCB) are ruining the future of yoga by creating parallel certification systems that bypass UGC-approved yoga degrees, diluting the quality and authenticity of yoga education.

Media Silence & Political Apathy
We have written to all media channels but no one covers this matter as they are afraid of the government. Opposition parties have stood against yoga education too - they don't want to raise this matter in parliament. We contacted major players like Aam Adami Party, Congress etc. Aam Admi Party itself is creating mess in the field of yoga through their Yogashala project.

Our Demands Since 2019
We have been demanding Yoga Legislation since 2019, sending many complaints and requests to Prime Minister Office, Ayush Minister, Law Minister, Human Rights Commission, President of India, and Supreme Court itself. But no action has been taken except fake assurances and a letter issued by former CJI of India Mr. Uday Umesh Lalit ji on 28 Nov 2022. In response to which AYUSH ministry is quiet and has not replied to that letter till now.

Key Provisions in Our Yoga Legislation Draft

  • Safety for Yoga Students and Public
  • Safety and Security for Yoga Professionals
  • Gradation for Yoga Players of Schools and Colleges
  • Stop the monopoly of Yogic Organizations without UGC approved professionals
  • Stop unauthentic yoga practices by non-Degree holders in India
Patent yoga to make it backbone of India
  • Ban all Yogic Sports Organizations formed against Sports Development Act 2011
  • Appoint yoga degree holders only on all yogic departments
  • Establish Yoga Research department in all universities
Create separate council for yoga dealing with education, research, and development
  • Only UGC approved degrees as base for yogic education
  • One syllabus, one fee in all yogic institutes across India
Defaming laws to punish those who defame yoga (Nude Yoga, Porn Yoga, Hot Yoga etc.)
  • A single body to deal with all frameworks and grievances
Set roles of work as per educational degree, applicable to Spiritual Gurus too

Our Final Demand: We strongly demand legislation based on UGC approved Yoga Degrees and to protect yogic field with proper laws and good attention than obelizing top organization linked to political parties just at the name of modernization of yoga.
