Support Wells economy by securing peak demand parking at Palace Farm Field
The Issue
Living and working in our beautiful city of Wells, Somerset, I have always cherished our vibrant community spirit. Our city, famous for its historical buildings and lively markets, thrives on the influx of visitors who contribute significantly to our local economy. For decades, the limited parking options in Wells have been a notable concern, with time-limited and on-street parking failing to meet demand.
An invaluable resource in addressing this issue has been the provision of all-day fair-weather parking at Palace Farm Field up to 28 days a year, especially on bustling Saturdays and during local festivals and events. This facility has not only eased congestion in the city centre but has also ensured a steady flow of visitors, who can spend unrestricted time exploring our city.
Sadly, this crucial parking is currently unavailable. The removal or restriction of such a vital service could severely impact both the businesses and the economic wellbeing of Wells. With tourism being a significant pillar of our local economy, we cannot afford to make access to our city more difficult.
Palace Farm Field is a gateway for many to experience the rich culture, beautiful countryside and warm hospitality of Wells. By maintaining it as a peak demand parking solution, we not only support local business but also promote a community environment where events and festivals can flourish, attracting visitors from near and far.
We, the petitioners, want to put on record how much this facility is valued and how important it is to keep Wells open and welcoming.
