We, the citizens of Calvert County, call on the County Commissioners to take immediate action to fund the installation of turf fields at all four county high schools.

Our student-athletes have achieved championship-level success despite practicing and competing on inadequate and inconsistent playing surfaces. Too often, they are forced into parking lots or must leave the county—spending additional time and resources—to access turf fields in preparation for state playoff and championship competition. This is unacceptable. Our students should not have to leave their own community to prepare for success.

This investment is about more than athletics—it is about equity, safety, and opportunity. Turf fields provide a consistent, safe, and durable surface that can be used year-round by student-athletes, physical education classes, marching bands, and youth organizations. They dramatically reduce cancellations, expand access, and ensure that our facilities serve the entire community to their fullest potential.

Calvert County students continue to demonstrate excellence, discipline, and pride. It is time for our facilities to reflect that same standard. By funding these turf fields, the County Commissioners will send a clear message: we support our students, we value their safety, and we are committed to providing them with the resources they deserve.
