For 29 years, the Log Cabin Restaurant has proudly hosted a weekly car show in Macedon, NY. This event is more than just a gathering of cars — it’s a local tradition that brings together people of all ages to enjoy classic vehicles, support local organizations, and share time with friends, family, and fellow enthusiasts.

The car show has created memories for generations and has welcomed vendors, clubs, law enforcement, and community groups to connect with attendees in a fun, family-friendly space, as well as promoting local community events.

Unfortunately, town officials have recently stopped the event due to concerns about unsafe driving to and from the show (in Macedon and surrounding areas). While safety is important, canceling the entire show, devising new limitations and refusing to collaborate with us to create an achievable solution — is not the answer. The decision overlooks the positive impact this event has had on our community — culturally, socially, and economically.

We believe there are better solutions. With cooperation from local law enforcement and town officials a plan can be created to address these concerns without shutting down the show.

This decision doesn’t just affect the attendees and organizers of the Log Cabin Car Show — it raises broader concerns for car shows everywhere. Shutting down a well-established, responsibly run event without meaningful effort to find solutions sets a troubling precedent. It signals that other towns could follow suit, putting similar community events at risk.

We’d like to take this as an opportunity to work with Macedon to lead by example — showing that safety and tradition can go hand in hand when local officials and community members work together.
