Stray, Community, Feral cats however you want to label them is greatly starting to affect the City of Osawatomie, being allowed to breed unchecked for years is making the numbers unsustainable. It leads to problems with the animals causing damage, scent marking, and can even spread diseases and cause road hazards if someone looses control while trying to avoid hitting a cat. While generally these cats don't pose a health risk to humans they can to pets living in the community. 

Four Kids For Kritters has offered to start a TNR program for our city to help stop the reproduction and help improve the lives of the animals and the community. Studies show that TNR is the most effective form of dealing with large colonies of cats over any other option. If we do nothing the animals will continue to breed, cause destruction and suffer at an alarming rate. If we allow TNR in our city it will help stop more animals from being added to the population, it will reduce the suffering from illnesses such as cancer, pyrometra and over breeding can cause, it will reduce scent marking (spraying) and fighting that happens during mating and help reduce disease spread. 

The city council has said they are interested in hearing from the community on if they would support a program like this or even want a program. This program will cost the city nothing but will rely on donations from the public to help. We are not asking the city for a dime, we are just asking the city to allow us to conduct as a licensed rescue the program.
