The Issue
Over the past few years, as we have witnessed the beautiful landscapes and vibrant ecosystems of Beaufort County, South Carolina, we’ve also observed significant growth in our community. While this development is a testament to our area's appeal, it has, unfortunately, not been matched with a corresponding growth in resources to aid our wildlife. This realization has hit home each time we’ve encountered distressed animals injured birds, orphaned raccoons, and baby squirrels roaming our neighborhoods, seeking assistance.
Currently, those who find these animals often ask the same questions: Where do I go? Who do I call? The absence of a dedicated wildlife center means residents are left searching for answers, often resorting to calling local volunteers or rehabilitation experts scattered across the region. While these individuals do an incredible job, they are often overwhelmed and under-resourced, lacking a centralized facility that could elevate our conservation efforts.
A wildlife center in Beaufort County would not only provide immediate help for our beloved animals but would serve as an educational hub, fostering community involvement in wildlife education and conservation. This center would be an essential asset, offering rehabilitation facilities, training for volunteers, educational programs for schools, and resources for families about living harmoniously with our local fauna.
To achieve this, we need your support.
