Support the Students @ UNT: Stand Up Against Chick-fil-A's Anti-Gay Agenda

The Issue

Students at Indiana University South Bend successfully petitioned their school to drop Chick-fil-A as a weekly vendor, after numerous stories noted the restaurant's deep connections to anti-gay organizations like Focus on the Family, the National Organization for Marriage, Exodus International, and the Pennsylvania Family Institute. Gay students and straight allies at the school wanted to send the message that supporting discrimination in any form has no place on the campus of Indiana University South Bend.

The school became the first to stand up and address Chick-fil-A's involvement with organizations fighting marriage equality. Now other schools are looking at Chick-fil-A's politics as well, including Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU), and Duke University where students are organizing to keep a Chick-fil-A out of the Student Union's dining services. Now it is our turn, the University of North Texas as a public institution needs to acknowledge and recognize the diversity and equality of all students, faculty, and staff that frequent the union.

The Student Union is a place where all students should feel safe and welcome. By allowing a company with a history of bigotry and homophobia into our campus, we potentially allow the University of North Texas to place monetary gain above the comfort and safety of the very students who are expected to frequent the Union Building.

Show your support for these students, by sending a message that Chick-fil-A's support for organizations working to take civil rights away from LGBT Americans must stop. These students are taking a bold stand for equality on campus, and holding the restaurant chain accountable for working with some of the fiercest anti-gay organizations in the United States.
