Hello wonderful active transportation supporters!
We are at nearly 900 signatures! And we can get more. Please take the following steps to help spread the word about this petition, especially if you live in Maryland, and more importantly if you’re in Montgomery County.
- on twitter? Tweet the link!
- on Facebook? Share in your personal page. If you belong to a local group which allows it, post it there too!
- on Reddit? Post it in the Bethesda, Montgomery County, and Maryland subs. Find other posts about this and defend it.
- have a cell phone? Text your closest friends the link.
It is also important to talk directly with your elected official and bureaucrats.
Email the Montgomery County Council. They don’t control the road, but their support means a lot.
Email your Maryland legislative delegation. They oversee the SHA in some capacity and can wield their power to continue the trend of safer arterials and state highways.
Email the State Highway Administration, specifically the bikes department. They are the government organization that already solicited public feedback and then implemented this update to Old Georgetown Road.
If all ~900 of you do this, our impact will be felt. People need to hear from you when the impact is positive. It’s hard to hear the silent majority over the vocal minority. You can help fix that.
Thank you again for signing. Make sure to share away!
Jacob
