Thank you for your email. You may be aware that I have sponsored a bill for at least 4 sessions to make the Loggerhead Sea Turtle the official NC Saltwater Reptile. It has passed the House unanimously every time, and it has never been allowed come to floor in the Senate. You may want to ask them why.

The last time, in 2025, it was stripped out and was used to attempt to put the shrimping industry out of business. They can't pass our budget, but they could attempt this abomination. This blindsided attempt was outside the bounds of common decency and legislative respect. You may want to ask them why.
