So, Why is the #FundOurFutureNotGas day of action on September 25th?

Just two weeks after September 25th the Federal budget will be handed down. A Budget where Scott Morrison will decide how his government will spend billions of Covid-19 recovery funds - on protecting our future, or on the dirty gas industry.

There’s still time to stop their plans to fund dirty gas. But Morrison needs to see people like you and me pushing back against gas EVERYWHERE - Join us on September 25th!  

Organising an action is easy! Because of the pandemic, the aim is to get as many small Covid-19 safe actions happening as possible. This could be a protest of 10-20 people in your local park. Or if you’re in lockdown in Victoria like me you can organise an online action.

It makes me so happy that there are already over 70 actions across Australia! That’s double the number of actions a week ago! We are growing so fast. In cities and country towns, offline and online, everyone is stepping up to fight against gas.

And this day of action is for adults, students, workers, your dog, everyone!

We need to act fast. The Morrison government is already working to line the pockets of the dirty gas industry. This week they decided to dress gas up as “clean energy” and redirected money for actual renewables towards gas! Ridiculous! [1]

The Morrison government is trying to paint gas as a clean option, a lie that has been told by the gas industry for decades. Even I know gas produces up to 84 x more emissions than coal. Gas is a dangerous fossil fuel that drives climate change.

I’m terrified about my future and the future of my siblings and my generation. I’m so frustrated that the government doesn’t see the urgency as much as we do. There are so many clean industries that the government can spend Covid-19 recovery funds on. It is so unacceptable that Morrison is ignoring these and thinking about gas!

But I know that on September 25th, if there are actions across Australia, that we can push the government to #FundOurFutureNotGas - Join me and let’s do this!
