As a resident of El Segundo, I have seen firsthand the impact that the Urho Saari Swim Stadium, fondly known as The Plunge, has had on our community. Since its establishment in 1940, it has been a beacon for aquatic programs catering to all age groups. From swim lessons and recreational swimming to senior-focused programs - The Plunge has been there for us all.

On Tuesday, March 5th, 2024 the City Council will be voting on agenda item D9 "Construction Contract Award and Design Support Services Contract Award for the Urho Saari Swim Stadium/Plunge Renovation Project". This vote will determine whether previously approved plans to renovate The Plunge will proceed or not.

The renovation of The Plunge is not just about maintaining a pool; it's about preserving an integral part of our community that fosters social interaction and promotes physical health across generations. It's about ensuring that future generations in El Segundo can continue to benefit from this valuable resource just as we have.
