Over the past two months, the Free Little Pantry in Saugus has become a vital community resource—used regularly by neighbors who donate food and by families who rely on it to ease food insecurity. Due to recent objections, the pantry can no longer remain in its current location, but this should not mean the end of a program that has already made a clear and meaningful impact in our town.

Food insecurity affects nearly 1 in 9 Americans, according to Feeding America, and Saugus is no exception. Many families are facing difficult choices, and an easily accessible pantry can make a real difference. The strong community use over the past two months demonstrates both the need for and the value of this service.

We are calling on the Town of Saugus to support the relocation of the Free Little Pantry to town property in a location that is accessible to all. Doing so would ensure its continued operation, strengthen community engagement, and align Saugus with neighboring towns that successfully host similar pantries on public land.
