

Our planning application was validated on December 7, 2023, and we're still waiting for a report with recommendations or conditions—35 weeks and counting with no clear determination date in sight.
We decided to compare this with how quickly TDC approved their own planning applications this year. The results are eye-opening:
Newington Community Centre: 8 weeks
Invicta House: 9 weeks
The Nayland Rock Shelter: 9 weeks
Kennedy House & Trove Court: 10 weeks
Theatre Royal: 16 weeks
In the latest cabinet meeting, TDC mentioned that the Coastal Wellbeing projects from the Margate Town Deal, which previously included our project until TDC removed our £500,000 in funding, are set to be determined by the planning committee on September 18, 2024. Those applications haven't even been registered yet but will apparently breeze through the planning process in under 6 weeks!
While our community project is stuck in planning limbo, TDC's own projects are fast-tracked. This is a blatant abuse of power lacking transparency and fairness in the planning process.
