Support the Ocean County Long Term Recovery Group’s request for inclusion in the State’s CDBG-DR Action Plan (Tranche 3) to fund the continuation and extension of Long Term Recovery services for RREM qualified households in the nine most impacted counties

Support the Ocean County Long Term Recovery Group’s request for inclusion in the State’s CDBG-DR Action Plan (Tranche 3) to fund the continuation and extension of Long Term Recovery services for RREM qualified households in the nine most impacted counties
The Issue
The Ocean County Long Term Recovery Group (OCLTRG) has recently requested the inclusion of $20 million in funding over the next two years for long-term recovery supportive services through the State’s Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) Action Plan 3, which must be submitted by the State to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in February.
While the state solicited public comment on their CDBG-DR Action Plan 3, it was at a recent meeting with the Governor’s Office of Recovery and Rebuilding that representatives from OCLTRG and its nonprofit partners discussed the need for a dedicated funding stream. These dollars would continue essential services including Disaster Case Management, Homeowner Education on the State’s RREM (Reconstruction, Rehabilitation, Elevation and Mitigation) Program, Financial and Housing Counseling and resources to meet the Unmet and Rebuilding Needs of Households where the State’s RREM Program does not fully fund rebuilding projects in compliance with federal funding requirements.
