Support the Kurdish struggle for freedom and dignity

Support the Kurdish struggle for freedom and dignity
The Issue
A CALL – A CALL – A CALL
To PEN Denmark and Danish writers and poets
I write to you as a writer, as a Kurd, as a Danish citizen, and as a member of PEN Denmark.
I live and write in Denmark. Denmark is my home. My language is shaped by both exile and hope.
My appeal to you is grounded in the long-standing tradition that writers and poets, especially under the aegis of PEN, act as the voices of conscience when freedom of expression and human dignity face threats.
The Kurdish community, to which I proudly belong, has been without a recognized nation for too long. The plight of the Kurdish people is one that has often been ignored or misunderstood by the international community. Our culture, heritage, and existence have constantly been in peril due to oppressive regimes that silence our voices and negate our rights.
It is said that the pen is mightier than the sword, and today I implore you to wield that power in solidarity with the Kurdish cause. It is imperative that Danish writers, poets, and intellectuals take a stand, drawing upon their influential platforms to amplify the stories, struggles, and dreams of the Kurdish people.
By acknowledging and understanding the Kurdish reality, you contribute significantly to our fight for freedom and dignity. In doing so, you also uphold the very essence of free speech and human rights that PEN embodies.
Together, let us forge a path for justice and peace. Let us ensure that the Kurdish voice is heard, cherished, and respected.
I urge you to sign this petition as a mark of your support for the Kurdish struggle for self-determination, cultural preservation, and human dignity. Your signature is more than just ink on paper; it is a powerful stance against oppression and a call for justice. Please sign and show your solidarity.
