Support the Horden Regeneration – Let Horden Move Forward

We need Horden's regeneration to continue. Horden has waited long enough for investment and regeneration.

The proposed regeneration of the Numbered Streets represents an opportunity to replace long-term empty and derelict properties with new homes and create a better environment for the people who live in Horden today and for future generations.

We recognise that the proposed demolition affects existing residents and that those residents have the right to raise concerns and pursue the legal process.

But their concerns should not mean that the wider Horden community's voice goes unheard.

We want Horden to move forward.

We are asking Durham County Council and the relevant authorities to continue supporting and progressing the regeneration programme, subject to the legal process, and to make sure that the final scheme delivers meaningful benefits for the whole community.

We support:
🏠 New, high-quality homes replacing properties that have been empty and deteriorating.

🌳 A cleaner and more attractive neighbourhood for residents.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Investment in Horden and its future, rather than allowing areas to continue declining.

🏘️ Good-quality social and affordable housing for local people.

🤝 Fair treatment and proper support for residents directly affected by the regeneration.

📢 Continued engagement with the wider Horden community as the programme progresses.

Horden deserves investment.
There are people who have lived in Horden all their lives and want to see their community given a future.

There are families who want good-quality homes.

There are younger people who deserve the opportunity to live locally.

And there are residents who have watched empty and deteriorating properties remain a problem for far too long.

Their voices matter too.

This petition is not about attacking individual residents or preventing anyone from exercising their legal rights.

It is about making sure that the people who support regeneration have a voice as well.

We therefore call for:
The Horden regeneration programme to continue, subject to the outcome of the legal process, with appropriate protections and support for residents directly affected.
