Support the establishment of a mosque in Bridge of Earn
The Issue
Bridge of Earn and the surrounding communities are home to a growing and diverse Muslim population, including families, professionals, students, healthcare workers, and business owners who contribute positively to local society. Despite this, there is currently no local mosque available to adequately serve the needs of Muslims living in the area.
Many residents are required to travel considerable distances to attend daily and Friday prayers, religious classes, community events, and important religious occasions. This can be particularly difficult for elderly individuals, families with young children, and those without easy access to transport. A mosque in Bridge of Earn would provide a much-needed local place of worship and community gathering space for Muslims from Bridge of Earn and neighbouring communities throughout Perth and Kinross.
A mosque is far more than a place of prayer. It serves as a centre for education, charity, youth development, community support, and interfaith engagement. Mosques across Scotland play an important role in bringing people together, supporting vulnerable individuals, encouraging volunteerism, and fostering understanding between different faiths and cultures.
The establishment of a mosque in Bridge of Earn would help meet the religious and community needs of local Muslims while promoting inclusion, diversity, and mutual respect. It would provide a dedicated space for worship, educational programmes, community activities, and charitable initiatives that can benefit the wider community.
Scotland has a proud tradition of welcoming people from different backgrounds and ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to practise their faith with dignity and respect. Supporting this proposal is a positive step towards ensuring that Muslim residents have access to the facilities they need, just as other faith communities do.
We call upon local authorities, community leaders, and residents to support the establishment of a mosque in Bridge of Earn and help create a welcoming, inclusive, and thriving community for current and future generations.
