The Issue

Mr. Sherman, we LOVE the ROYALS and enthusiastically support a new stadium in Kansas — and the Aspiria Campus in Overland Park is the PERFECT location for it!

While some have questioned the fit, we — the residents, fans, families, and business community of Overland Park and Leawood — want to make OUR voices heard, loud and clear, about why Aspiria is exactly the right choice for the Royals’ future home:

1. A safer and smarter traffic environment for young drivers

With three high schools located within two miles of the site, the area already has well-designed traffic control, protected crossings, school zone enforcement, and law-trained roadway planning.

A new stadium would bring:

✅ improved road infrastructure

✅ better lighting

✅ upgraded intersections

✅ enhanced enforcement and monitoring

All of which make the roads safer, not more dangerous, for teenage and newly licensed drivers.

2. Enhanced access and resources for nearby hospitals

Three emergency-care hospitals in close proximity means:

✅ faster response capability for fans

✅ additional employment partnerships

✅ coordinated emergency planning

✅ expanded funding opportunities

Rather than posing risk, a stadium brings increased investment and preparedness capacity, enhancing public health outcomes for everyone.

3. Strengthening home values and community appeal

Suburban neighborhoods near aspirational sports districts across the country consistently experience:

✅ rising home values

✅ increased desirability

✅ stronger retail and dining options

✅ safer, more patrolled surroundings

A Royals stadium in Overland Park would make the area more vibrant, more valuable, and more secure, growing lifelong equity rather than erasing it.

4. Retaining and attracting top-tier employers

Aspiria is already a hub for high-quality Kansas employers — and stadium districts nationwide demonstrate that:

✅ companies stay and expand near entertainment anchors

✅ talent recruitment improves

✅ surrounding commercial investment surges

✅ innovation corridors emerge

Rather than fueling brain drain, a stadium helps Kansas KEEP talent here — and draws more of it in.

5. Supporting and protecting the Jewish Community Center and cultural life

The Johnson County Jewish community is a beloved part of our region — and a nearby stadium offers:

✅ increased visibility

✅ increased economic activity

✅ increased security investment

✅ increased community engagement

With antisemitism on the rise in the nation, having more people, more security, and more institutional support nearby strengthens safety — not weakens it.

6. The number of Overland Park and Johnson County residents that already have season tickets, this would allow for more season tickets to be sold to fans and businesses.

We urge you to recognize the overwhelming benefits to Overland Park, Leawood, and the entire Kansas City region that come from selecting the Aspiria Campus as the Royals’ new home.

A stadium here would:

⭐ modernize infrastructure

⭐ expand economic opportunity

⭐ grow community identity

⭐ enhance safety resources

⭐ keep the Royals accessible to Kansas families

Overland Park wants the Royals, is ready for the Royals, and will THRIVE with the Royals.
