The Issue

Open Up Ventura County for Weddings &  Create Fair Rules for Ventura County

We, the undersigned, respectfully ask the Ventura County Board of Supervisors to allow The Colony Estate™ to continue hosting weddings while establishing a fair, objective permit pathway for responsible outdoor events in the RE-5 zone for the benefit of love and our community.

The Colony Estate™ is a private, gated estate on 3.38 acres where couples and families celebrate life’s most meaningful occasions. We believe a venue that operates responsibly should have a clear right and lawful way to continue serving the community that generates income for local businesses.

I understand the estate has adopted safeguards designed to protect its neighbors and surrounding roads. Every event includes live sound monitoring at the property boundary, a strict 10:00 PM cutoff for amplified music, offsite parking with professional shuttle service to prevent street parking, licensed on-site security, insured vendors, and maintained emergency access. I'm joining many other residents that have put their support in writing based on their firsthand experience of these practices.

This is not a request to avoid regulation. It is a request for clear, consistent rules in line with the demands of the Board of Supervisors to expand the use of objective standards to include RE-5 lots where appropriate. The Colony Estate should be allowed to participate in that process rather than be left without a workable path forward.

We ask the Board of Supervisors to:
1.Stay enforcement while The Colony Estate pursues their permit based on County guidance
2.Direct staff to identify and process the appropriate permit path for the estate promptly through a Ministerial process.
3.Establish an objective RE-5 outdoor-event pathway with sensible, measurable requirements for sound, traffic, parking, safety, and neighborhood compatibility.

A fair permitting solution can protect neighborhood quality of life while preserving a local place where couples, families, vendors, and employees come together to celebrate.

I sign this petition in full support of The Colony Estate, with love and our community at heart.
