Support the citizen led animal welfare task force
The Issue
To the residents of Montgomery County, Ohio,
We, the undersigned, are asking for your support for the citizen-led Animal Welfare Task Force led by Robyn McGeorge (Robyn’s Nest) and Kristen Tilton (People Assisting Animal Welfare). This important initiative is dedicated to improving the well-being of animals in our community, ensuring they receive the care, protection, and respect they deserve.
As Montgomery County continues to grow, so too does the need for a more structured and humane approach to animal welfare. The task force, spearheaded by Robyn and Kristen, is currently supported by Sicsa, The Humane Society, Representative Phil Plummer and Senator Willis Blackshear among others. We are working collectively to address urgent issues including animal neglect, abuse, overpopulation, overcrowding, strays on our streets and the need for better resources for local shelters.
Why Your Support Matters:
Strengthening Animal Protection Laws: The task force is focused on advocating for stronger, more enforceable laws that protect animals and hold accountable those who harm them.
Promoting Animal Adoption: increasing awareness and opportunities for adoption, reducing the number of animals in shelters, and ensuring every pet has the chance to find a loving home.
Supporting Local Shelters: The task force is committed to assisting local shelters in improving their facilities, access to resources, and their ability to care for animals in need.
Community Education and Awareness: Through outreach programs, the task force aims to inform the public about responsible pet ownership, the importance of spaying and neutering, and how to report animal cruelty.
Addressing Overpopulation: The task force will work towards solutions to curb the overpopulation of animals in Montgomery County, such as finding resources for low-cost spaying and neutering services and working with local veterinarians.
Advocating for Change: By creating a collaborative environment with local government agencies, animal rescue organizations, and other community groups, the task force aims to make lasting, systemic change.
By signing this petition, you are lending your voice to the cause, showing that Montgomery County stands united in its commitment to animal welfare and compassion. Together, we can create a better community that is more reflective of our values.
