I have opened my heart and home to rescue horses who have faced starvation and abuse. The affliction and neglect these animals endure is nothing short of tragic, and it roots from lack of accountability for those who harm them. It's time we all stood up for these innocent lives and demanded justice on their behalf.

Currently, in Tennessee, the starvation and resultant death of a livestock animal is considered only a misdemeanor. This level of punishment does not match the severity of the crime. Animals, like humans, deserve protection from such grievous acts. By upgrading this crime to a Class E Felony, we acknowledge the life of each animal as valuable and worthy of respect and humane treatment.

Imagine the countless animals that suffer in silence, starving without relief or recourse, because the system fails to deter their abusers effectively. By supporting the proposed legislation in the House and Senate, we become a voice for those who cannot speak, ensuring perpetrators face consequences that reflect the gravity of their actions.
