Ogaden is a population of 20M.

As a proud member of the Ogaden community, I feel a deep connection with my heritage, and it's an intrinsic part of my identity. Our flag, the Ogaden flag, is a symbol of pride, unity and cultural identity, yet it is currently unrepresented in the universally used emoji set. This lack of representation for the Ogaden community feels exclusionary and disregards the cultural significance our flag holds for thousands around the world. 

The emoji has become a universal language - a visual means of communication transcending literal language barriers. As of 2020, the Unicode Consortium has approved 3,304 emojis, but the Ogaden flag is not among them. This lack of representation feels like an oversight and neglect of our culture in the digital age.

The flag's inclusion as an emoji would not just be a symbol, but a supportive message that every nation, every culture, and every person deserves to be recognised and respected. Thus, we strongly urge the Unicode Consortium to consider this request and initiate steps to include the Ogaden flag in the global emoji set.
