To Mayor and Deputy Mayor, Bradford West Gwillimbury

I understand the AMJ Annual Convention was a great success. I live close by the venue and I must admit I was very impressed to witness how fast the AMJ created a tent city for the event in such a short yet in an orderly manner. I truly congratulate their efforts and enthusiasm the AMJ members brought together toward the event. It was an example of great team work! On the other hand, I must say I suffered from bit of inconveniences as the road was closed one evening (I believe it was the last day of the event) and I had to make detours to make to downtown Bradford. You may need to plan alternative arrangements to minimize inconveniences of the local residents in the future.

I have been living in this beautiful community of Bradford for almost 30 years and have witnessed the transformation of the community from a small village to a fairly large diversified community. Our demography has also shifted dramatically. Having said that, I personally believe diversity is a wonderful thing so long we respect each others position, give space to each other and mutually co exist and prosper.

It may be a bit of shock and surprise to receive influx of over 20 thousand visitors every year for a town like Bradford. Some residents may think it is out of proportion or even consider it is some kind of disturbance. At the same time, I do understand that the AMJ are peace loving people and working hard to realize non violent and peaceful society based on their faith.

It may take some time but I truly hope local residents of Bradford and the AMJ will identify the mutual ground ( which I have no doubt that our fundamental desire is identical), and truly start to work together toward our common goal, the peaceful, harmonious and prosperous Bradford. Let us make balanced approach, be tolerant and give time to understand each other.
