The Stonewall National Monument, as a full unit of the National Parks Service, at Christopher Park in NYC would accomplish two objectives:

1) Ensure that the story of the Stonewall Uprising is told at this historic site,

and

2) Incorporate the LGBT struggle for civil rights into the National Parks Service narrative on 20th century American history. 

If designated, a "Stonewall National Park" would become the first historic site in the National Park System dedicated because of its importance in LGBT history.

We ask that President Obama create the Stonewall National Monument through executive order.
