My daughter, like thousands of other families across the country, is caught in a struggle that simply shouldn't exist in a modern, compassionate society. Every day, viable families face challenges and hardships; these are households that although potentially successful and self-sustaining, are still grappling with difficulties such as insufficient income, lack of healthcare, and inadequate access to social services.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, in 2019, 34.0 million people, or 10.5 percent of the nation's population, lived in poverty. (Source: U.S. Census Bureau). This invisible crisis is undermining the stability and success of families who are simply striving for a decent life, and it remains largely unaddressed.

We are seeking greater attention and increased funding for social services. Our government needs to acknowledge the hardships that these families encounter and provide the support necessary to create a society where everyone, regardless of their social or economic status, can thrive.
