Hi, and thank you for your support. With little in the way of coordinated and professional promotion, the petition has received over 10,000 signatures which is fantastic. I am deeply grateful.

Despite silence to date from the Victorian Government, I remain hopeful for a meaningful response from the Premier and Attorney-General and for the opportunity to engage and work with them to effect positive legislative reform in Victoria.

I remain hopeful that the Victorian Government and wider Victorian political system believe that my request for change merits an opportunity to meet and for this matter to be progressed.

How the Victorian justice system, and by extension the Victorian Government view, sentence and manage convicted child sex offenders is a matter of public interest and deserves their attention.

My ask is simple and with precedent.

1.       Make changes to remove a little-known loophole in the Sex Offenders Registration Act that allows convicted sex offenders to avoid lawful reporting obligations under the Act, and leave the country without restriction; and

2. Strengthen the application of sentencing practices in Victoria with respect to historical child sexual offences, in line with contemporary sentencing practices and abolish access to suspended sentencing. These changes are consistent with the recommendations of the Royal Commission that also reflect contemporary legal and community standards, bringing Victoria into line with other states such as NSW.

I am attempting to engage with the Government meaningfully, with respect, without blame or ambition to point score. My only motivation has been to drive contemporary legislative reform that helps others.
