Sesame Street has been a cornerstone of childhood education for generations, teaching kids about kindness, fairness, and community. Now, the very workers who bring this beloved show to life—its staff, crew, and creative minds—are facing layoffs and resistance to their efforts to unionize.

On the heels of Warner Bros. Discovery’s decision to end its partnership with Sesame Workshop, the company has announced significant downsizing. This comes just a day after more than 200 employees asked for union recognition. While puppeteers, writers, and crew are already unionized, many other dedicated workers at Sesame Workshop deserve the same protections.

Sesame Street has always stood for fairness and standing up for what’s right. We call on Sesame Workshop to honor its values by recognizing the union and working with employees to ensure job security, fair wages, and better working conditions.

We must stand in solidarity with the Sesame Street workers who make the magic happen.
