The Issue

Testosterone is a hormone produced in all bodies and involved in energy, muscle and bone health, metabolism, and overall vitality. Despite this, public understanding of testosterone has long been shaped by cultural stigma, fear-based narratives, and outdated assumptions rather than current medical science.

For decades, testosterone regulation has been driven largely by concerns unrelated to routine patient care. These frameworks have contributed to confusion, uneven access, research gaps, and inconsistent clinical conversations. Women have been underrepresented in testosterone research. Men have encountered oversimplified messaging tied to misuse or performance rather than health. Transgender patients face additional barriers related to privacy and access.

Today, the scientific and clinical landscape looks very different.

Clinicians across specialties recognize testosterone as a legitimate component of hormone health when evaluated appropriately and discussed in proper medical context. Patients are increasingly seeking clear, evidence-based information rather than stigma or hype. Regulators themselves have acknowledged that earlier approaches to hormone policy may no longer reflect current science or real-world use.

As the FDA undertakes a formal review of testosterone policy, public input matters.

Regulatory agencies rely on scientific evidence, expert testimony, and public participation to guide decisions that affect patient care nationwide. When patients and clinicians engage thoughtfully and in good faith, it strengthens the regulatory process and helps ensure policy reflects real health needs.

This petition calls for:

  • Testosterone policy grounded in current scientific evidence
  • Regulation proportional to actual risk, not outdated stigma
  • Research frameworks that include women and diverse populations
  • Clear, consistent clinical standards informed by real-world care
  • Privacy-respecting access for patients who rely on testosterone as part of legitimate medical treatment

This is a call for science-aligned, patient-centered hormone policy.

By signing this petition, you are signaling that hormone health deserves thoughtful, evidence-based regulation and that public understanding should evolve alongside science.
