Dear everyone,

Despite everything 9,000 Sainsbury's workers have been forced into signing new contracts resulting in pay cuts and decreased T&Cs. I am one of them and started this petition in protest and have been humbled at all the interest and responses. I would like to say...

Thank you Siobhain McDonagh MP and her team for all that you have done to bring attention to the cause. You have been so supportive
Thank you to the 110 MPs who supported and signed the letter to Sainsbury's
Thank you to all the journalists who covered this issue both nationally and locally
Thank you to those who physically went to hand in the petition to Holborn
And sincerely...
Thank you all you 126,000 amazing people who have signed, commented on and shared this petition #workwellforless @sainsburys

It's a massive shame that Sainsbury's didn't budge an inch about our concerns - but we know they couldn't ignore us. Our victories are we were debated in
The Press, 24 articles including 9 National papers! (https://www.change.org/p/support-sainsbury-s-shop-floor-staff-s-working-rights-we-re-not-in-the-money/u/22840329
Parliament, including directly to the Prime Minister! (https://goo.gl/dMxVnn and https://www.change.org/p/support-sainsbury-s-shop-floor-staff-s-working-rights-we-re-not-in-the-money/u/22888733 )
Television! Victoria Derbyshire on 22/05/2018
...and this petition was specifically mentioned every time.

On no occasion did Sainsbury's ever address the points made in our second petition update (https://www.change.org/p/support-sainsbury-s-shop-floor-staff-s-working-rights-we-re-not-in-the-money/u/22746124 but blathered on about their own perception of "fairness" and being the highest paying retailer (not true, for example Ikea pay the Real Living Wage)

This battle may be lost, but the war isn't over.

I maybe starting a blog soon about my experiences and thoughts about working at Sainsbury's for anyone who's interested. Sainsbury's won't be able to ignore the recent high turnover of staff and the many vacancies that are dogging the business now as low morale takes bite. Well done Sainsbury's, it's taken you 18 months to destroy 125 years of a great reputation you once had.

In solidarity

P.S. One of my favourite parts of this campaign has been this short clip of Sainsbury's being nailed by John Grogan MP of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee on 20th June, please watch- it's excellent (only 2 minutes)
