Support Safe, Designated ORV Access in Princeton, BC

To the Mayor and Council of the Town of Princeton, BC:

We are asking the Town of Princeton to develop a bylaw that would allow safe, responsible and regulated Off-Road Vehicle (ORV) use on designated routes within Princeton.

Princeton is surrounded by an incredible network of trails and backcountry recreation opportunities. ATV, side-by-side and other ORV riders are an important part of our community and bring recreational tourism into our area.

We are not asking for unrestricted ORV use on every street in Princeton.

We are asking for clearly designated routes that would allow properly licensed, registered and insured ORV users to safely travel between surrounding trail systems and essential destinations within town, including fuel stations, restaurants, accommodations and local businesses.

A regulated ORV access bylaw could establish designated streets and routes, appropriate hours of operation and speed limits, licensing, registration and insurance requirements, required safety equipment, noise expectations and penalties for riders who do not follow the rules.

Why would this benefit Princeton?

Designated ORV access could:

Support Princeton businesses and recreational tourism.
Allow riders to safely access fuel, food, accommodations and other local services.
Better connect Princeton with the surrounding trail network.
Encourage responsible riding by establishing clear rules about where and how ORVs may be operated.
Improve accountability by separating responsible, permitted riders from those operating illegally or irresponsibly.
Create additional recreational opportunities for residents, families and visitors.
Other B.C. communities have demonstrated that ORV access can be approached through designated routes and clear regulations. We believe Princeton has an opportunity to create a system designed specifically for our community while respecting residents, pedestrians, motorists and other road users.

Responsible access — not unrestricted access.

We respectfully ask Princeton Mayor and Council to work with residents, local businesses, appropriate agencies and the ORV community to identify suitable routes and develop a bylaw allowing responsible, designated ORV access within the Town of Princeton.

If you believe Princeton can support responsible ORV recreation while protecting the safety and enjoyment of our community, please sign this petition and share it with others.

Ride responsibly. Respect our community. Support Princeton.
