El Paso County Colorado School District 49 (D49) has always been a community of caring and acceptance. The recent suspension of Policy JBAA—a policy that was never even implemented—has sparked controversy, with factions threatening to file federal lawsuits and punish the district, including potential school board recalls and student withdrawals.

Current D49 practice which aligns with the Colorado Anti-Discrimination Act and follows the requirements set for schools in the 2013 Coy Mathis v Fountain Fort Carson School District 8 decision. Additionally, D49 has parents, students and school administration, ensuring the needs of ALL students are being met and parental rights are being addressed on an individualized basis.

Many in our community have already attested to what D49 is already doing as best practice. Join us in standing up for a safe, equitable, and inclusive education for all students in District 49.
