In Penang, Malaysia, we face an escalating crisis with our stray cat population. The numbers are escalating faster than any group can manage. Shelters are operating at full capacity, volunteers who feed these animals are exhausted, and veterinary clinics are stretched thin trying to provide care. It's a heart-wrenching sight to see newborn kittens abandoned in drains and sick cats wandering the sidewalks with no one to help them. Despite our best efforts, we lack a real system to stop it. We are tired and in desperate need of a structured approach.

This is why we stand behind Pertubuhan Gabungan Kesejahteraan Kucing, known as the Cats Of Penang. This organization's mission is pivotal as it focuses on cat welfare through effective measures like Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), education, and community outreach. However, to drive change efficiently and transparently, this organization needs official recognition as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) by the Registrar of Societies (ROS).

Securing NGO status will not only enable the Cats Of Penang to operate with greater transparency but will also unlock the ability to raise funds more effectively. This is crucial to expanding our services, from providing medical care to conducting educational programs that inform the community on responsible pet ownership and the importance of population control through TNR.

Every day we delay, the suffering continues, and the problem amplifies. Recognition by the ROS is not just a stamp of approval; it is a pivotal step toward creating a sustainable solution for feline welfare and public harmony in Penang. The organization is dedicated to providing strategic interventions that can create impactful and compassionate solutions. With ROS approval, it can legally and effectively serve not just the animals, but also the wider community by fostering a humane environment.

We beseech the Registrar of Societies to approve Pertubuhan Gabungan Kesejahteraan Kucing as an NGO. Let's open doors to a future where stray cats in Penang are treated with the dignity and care they deserve. Please sign this petition to help us make this vision a reality.
