The Issue
Suretha (Rita) Tate is not just a grant writer, she is an integral part of the Waukegan Public School District 60 community. Having personally benefited from her dedication and expertise, I can attest to the positive impact of her work. Highly educated and skilled, Suretha has played a pivotal role in securing more than $43 million in funding for the district as well as managing funds that directly benefit students, staff and families.
Furthermore, her deep-rooted connection to the Waukegan community enhances her capacity to address our unique challenges effectively. Suretha Tate has deep roots in Waukegan, Illinois, where she was born and raised. She has dedicated her career to serving the community and works with Lake County Health Department, Dean at Central Junior High School, ILLINOIS STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION, and works at College of Lake County. Most importantly, she intentionally brought her knowledge, skills, and experience back home to Waukegan Public School District 60, choosing to invest her talents in the community that shaped her. Her ability to write compelling grant proposals and manage strategic initiatives is UNMATCHED, making her an invaluable asset to our schools.
We face the possibility of losing someone who has tirelessly committed her time, skills, and passion to our district's success. This would be a tremendous loss for Waukegan Public School District 60. We believe that maintaining her position is essential for the continued success and strategic growth of our schools.
