Dear Honorable Members of the Cambridge City Council,
I am writing in support of the Ahern Field Revitalization Project, including the installation of a modern synthetic turf field.
As a [player / parent / coach / youth sports volunteer / Cambridge resident], I know how important safe, reliable places to play are for Cambridge children. Youth sports and active play help kids build confidence, friendships, teamwork, and lifelong healthy habits.
Cambridge does not have enough dependable field space to meet demand. Natural grass fields are often limited by rain, mud, wear, and the need for rest. A modern synthetic field at Ahern would provide far more playable hours for school programs, youth sports, neighborhood families, and informal play.
This is also an issue of fairness. East Cambridge deserves the same access to high-quality play facilities as other parts of the city.
Please support the City’s plan for Ahern. Cambridge children deserve safe, reliable places to play—today, tomorrow, and all year long.
