Falmouth Selectmen need encouragement to support continued operation of the Town’s two wind turbines. As you may know, an appellate court recently ruled the Town should’ve obtained a special permit before building Wind1. Selectmen are deciding whether or not to appeal this unexpected decision, which overturned both the Building Commissioner and a 2013 Barnstable Superior Court ruling. The recent spike in electricity rates means the turbines now generate about 30% more revenue for the Town. This revenue benefits the entire town, and can also be used for mitigation of the few impacted homes. In May 2013, a two to one majority of Falmouth voters rejected funding turbine removal.
