Keep our locks open on the Chattahoochee River

The Issue

On October 7, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers plans to close locks to recreational traffic at the Walter F. George Lock and Dam near Fort Gaines, the George W. Andrews Lock and Dam near Blakely, and the Jim Woodruff Lock and Dam near Bainbridge.

Our understanding is that the Corps must continue to operate these locks several times a week for fish passage and general maintenance. Instead of closing the locks completely, we want to work with the Corps to accommodate recreational boaters during these periods when the locks will already be in operation.

If you support recreational boating on the river that uses taxpayer dollars wisely, then join with Chattahoochee RiverWarden and sign our petition now.
