Support Quick-Build Traffic Circles & Median Closures In San Antonio

Support Quick-Build Traffic Circles & Median Closures In San Antonio

The Issue

Sign this petition to support quick and cost-effective solutions to speeding, sideshows, and other forms of traffic violence in the San Antonio neighborhood and the rest of Oakland. Your signatures will be sent alongside this letter to the mayor, Council President Bas, and OakDOT Director Rowan.

Our demands:

  1. Quickly approve a set of quick-build solutions to prevent sideshows, speeding, and drifting.
  2. Allocate funds for the city to deploy these solutions or create a set of standards that will allow neighbors to deploy these solutions.
  3. Update the paving plan and Capital Improvements Program to automatically fund permanent solutions whenever a street with quick-build solutions is repaved.
  4. Commit to doing this work this year, not in months or weeks, but now before there is another sideshow shooting or fatality.
  5. We want the names, phone numbers, and emails of the people at OakDOT, Public Works, the Attorney's Office, the Council President's office, and the Mayor's office responsible for this work.

We are tired of nightly and daily acts of traffic violence - the sideshows, the speeding, the drifting, the smell of burning rubber, and the shootings. The city's gross negligence and glacial pace have put all our lives at risk and dramatically decreased our quality of life. We have taken matters into our own hands to collect safe and proven traffic interventions that the city can approve and implement immediately at minimal cost.
