Petition to the Mayor and City Council of Grand Island

Our Request

We, the undersigned, respectfully ask the City of Grand Island to work collaboratively with Pete's Safari to find practical solutions that allow this unique attraction to continue serving families, visitors, and the community.

Pete's Safari has become a destination for many Nebraska families and visitors from surrounding states. It provides opportunities for education, animal appreciation, family experiences, and tourism while contributing to the local economy.

We support efforts that promote public safety, animal welfare, and compliance with applicable regulations. We also believe every reasonable effort should be made to preserve a valued attraction that has positively impacted so many families.

Why This Matters: Pete's Safari is more than a zoo.

It is a place where:

My Personal Story

I travel from Omaha to Grand Island approximately twice each month and frequently visit Pete's Safari. My friends, neighbors, and family members from the Omaha area have also traveled to Grand Island because of recommendations and visits connected to the zoo.

Every trip brings revenue into the community through gas purchases, dining, shopping, and other local spending.

Pete's Safari is one of the attractions that makes Grand Island a destination worth visiting.
