RE: Support for Permanent Protection of the Carver Youth & Family Center Name

Dear Mayor and Council Members,

I am writing as a resident, supporter, and community stakeholder to express my support for permanently protecting the historic name of the:

Carver Youth & Family Center

The Carver has long represented an important part of African American community life, youth development, civic engagement, and neighborhood history within the City of Trenton.

For many residents and families, the Carver name carries deep historical and cultural meaning connected to generations of community life and service.

While preservation often focuses on protecting buildings, preserving the historic identity and name connected to those spaces is equally important.

I respectfully support efforts to:

• Permanently preserve the Carver name
• Prevent future renaming without public input
• Ensure the community has a voice in decisions affecting the site’s identity
• Protect the historical and cultural legacy connected to the Carver

I respectfully ask the Mayor and City Council to support legislation, public policy, and community engagement efforts that permanently protect the Carver Youth & Family Center name for future generations.
