When I was 16, I lost my mother to cancer. We later found out that chromium six in the local water was the culprit. Moving to Dallas was a fresh start, but the discovery of Sand Branch, a small unincorporated area in Dallas County, awakened old memories. Like too many communities across the country, residents of Sand Branch face dire water quality issues resulting from the environment in which they live.

Located just outside of Dallas, Sand Branch has been grappling with untreated water for far too long. The town's proximity to a wastewater treatment facility built in 1964 only compounds the problem. The water is contaminated, and the community has been left to fend for itself with insufficient infrastructure to ensure clean, safe water and decent sanitation.

Now is the time for change. We've prepared a bond for $22 million aimed at building permanent water and sewer infrastructure. This investment is not just about pipes and pumps; it’s about dignity, health, and creating an environment where families can thrive. To make this happen, we need 200,000 signatures to put this crucial bond on the November ballot.
