Support: Path connecting Treesdale to Pine Richland High & Middle School Campus

The Issue

The Township of Pine supports and encourages human-powered transportation; this affords residents opportunities for recreation and fitness activities; and creates connections between key locations.

I am concerned about the lack of any planned pedestrian access from the Treesdale Community to the PR High School / Middle School campus. Increased pedestrian connectivity was a specific focus of both Pine's recent Comprehensive Plan, and the soon-to-be-released Treesdale Community Association strategic plan.

Recently, St. Barnabas has submitted an application to Pine Township to use the former Trees estate as a "Public and semipublic use and recreation facility".  It is likely that this application will convey tax-exempt status to the property. I think it's important that the Township appreciate our interest, in Treesdale, in establishing pedestrian access from our neighborhoods to the high school / middle school campus in exchange for this valued status from the Township.

Many Treesdale residents spoke at the meeting last December to voice our support for the application, which would preserve open space in our community, and to urge St. Barnabas to comply with Township code by adding sidewalks along Warrendale Road.

Please sign this petition to let the Township Supervisors and St. Barnabas know how we feel about this plan.
