Supporters of our Community Mandate re Expanding Community Programming in the former Vaughan Road Academy

On behalf of the Board of the Oakwood Vaughan Community Organization (OVCO), I offer my sincerest thanks to you and all 190 (so far) who have signed our change.org petition asking for a Community Mandate to negotiate more secure and flexible community space in the former Vaughan Road Academy.

Since the change.org platform supports sharing petitions more widely than the local area to which the issue applies, 50 of the 190 who have responded so far are from further afield than the Oakwood Vaughan neighbourhood. That’s great! We are very pleased that so many people from other communities can see the importance of community access to public space and support local initiatives such as ours. 

We will use the petition results to press Toronto District School Board officials to open talks with us on the areas identified in the Community Mandate. We will keep our supporters updated on discussions and we may need to call on local supporters for further action, such as sending messages to identified decision-makers in support of our purpose. 

We can do this indirectly through the change.org platform or we could do it through our own direct communications channel – i.e. from chair.ovco@gmail.com . I ask local OV residents to send an email to me at that address if you wish to be added to our Community Access to the VRA campaign list.
