Petition to Restaurant Brands International Inc. & Tim Hortons

Request:

We respectfully urge Restaurant Brands International and Tim Hortons to implement a consistent and meaningful seniors’ discount across all Canadian locations for individuals aged 55 and older. The current offering is fragmented, insufficient, and lacks uniform application.

Together, with community support, we believe this can be changed through this petition.

Why Seniors Deserve This Discount:

Many older adults across Canada, particularly those on fixed incomes, face food insecurity and social isolation. Tim Hortons has long been a cherished social space, but for many seniors, even a small coffee has become a luxury. A reliable discount would help restore their access to this beloved gathering place.

Another concern affecting our senior community involves the customer service approach at your different locations. Several seniors have expressed frustration — and I’ve personally experienced it as well — with staff routinely directing all customers to use the self-service kiosks. This creates undue stress for many older adults, especially those who are unfamiliar with the technology or who may not have access to credit or debit cards.

We respectfully urge you to consider adopting a more compassionate, senior-friendly policy that ensures in-person assistance remains readily available. Implementing such a policy across Canada — and beyond — would make a meaningful difference for seniors who value accessible and human-centered service.

While Tim Hortons supports admirable programs like the Tim Hortons Foundation Camps, Indigenous initiatives, and youth sports, extending this support to seniors would further reflect your commitment to community well-being and inclusivity.

Benefits to Tim Hortons:

Increased foot traffic and sales

Strengthened brand loyalty among a growing demographic

Enhanced reputation for corporate social responsibility

Greater presence as a community-first brand

Proposed Seniors' Discount Policy:

  1. $1.00 small-sized tea or coffee
  2. 25% off all baked goods
  3. Available Canada-wide, year-round

The Need is Urgent:

In Victoria, 84% of surveyed seniors report frequently running out of money for food.

In British Columbia, 1 in 4 seniors lives on less than $21,000 annually – below minimum wage.

The inability to afford social outings negatively affects seniors’ mental health and sense of connection. A simple discount can have a profound impact.
