Support North Atlanta Football League Use of North Park in Alpharetta

The Issue

For the past 48+ years, the Alpharetta based North Atlanta Football League (NAFL), formerly known as the AYFA, has supported youth sports in and around Alpharetta through its Tackle & Flag Football and Cheerleading programs. NAFL is an all-volunteer non-profit that for decades has provided the youth of our city from Kindergarten through 5th grade the opportunity to participate in sports against teams from all over the North Atlanta Area at very reasonable costs.

Without input from city residents, the Mayor of Alpharetta has decided to cancel the contract between NAFL and the City for its use of the North Park football and cheer facilities. This action jeopardizes NAFL’s existence and the ability for over 200 Alpharetta families, their children, and the NAFL volunteers to participate and coach in football and cheerleading.

The use of North Park by NAFL is both a revenue source for the city and a driver of participation in these sports for children who will ultimately compete in Middle School feeder programs and at Alpharetta High School. The Mayor plans for an RFP to bring in a for-profit company to operate a new “Alpharetta Only” league, for which there will not be an adequate number of participants to create competitive teams.

We ask that you join the over 200 affected Alpharetta families of our young football players, cheerleaders and volunteers to make your opposition to this decision known to the City and its leaders.

Let NAFL and its volunteers continue to support and grow youth sports in Tackle & Flag Football and Cheerleading for the good of all of Alpharetta!
