A CALL FOR THE UNITY OF FRATERNITIES IN THE PHILIPPINES
Despite the diverse histories and traditions of each fraternity in the country, we firmly believe that we share a singular vision: to serve our fellowmen and contribute positively to society. To formally recognize the voice, service, and unity of every "brother" and "sister," this petition has been launched to officially urge the government to declare November 19 as National Fraternity Day in the Philippines.
The selection of this date is anchored on deep historical significance, accompanied by concrete objectives for the betterment of our community.
WHY NOVEMBER 19?
November 19 holds immense historical value in our nation. This date marks the founding of the very first Greek-letter fraternity in the Philippines—the Upsilon Sigma Phi in 1918 at the University of the Philippines.
Choosing this date does not elevate any single organization; rather, it honors the "genesis" of the entire fraternity and sorority system in the country. It serves as a neutral ground and a shared root where all organizations—regardless of name or color—can converge and unite.
OBJECTIVES OF THE OBSERVANCE:
Inter-Fraternity Peace: Promoting continuous dialogue and solidarity among various organizations to permanently eradicate physical confrontations.
Civic Action & Nation-Building: Mobilizing for joint nationwide projects such as blood donation drives, medical missions, disaster relief, and feeding programs in collaboration with Local Government Units (LGUs).
Anti-Hazing Mandate: Strictly implementing, respecting, and adhering to the provisions of the Anti-Hazing Act of 2018 (RA 11053) to guarantee the safety and dignity of every member.
