Some people have asked me for more clarity around what exactly I am asking people to sign on to. Remember that what the City is doing right now is creating its housing plan for the next 8 years, demonstrating, as required by the State, that we have the capacity for 587 new housing units, affordable to households at a range of income levels. So, what I am seeking support for, is a housing plan that would allow for appropriately scaled housing throughout Piedmont. This includes duplexes, triplexes, etc. in the single family residential zones, and moderately-sized apartment buildings along Grand Ave, in Moraga Canyon, and in the city center. With such a plan, we can allow for beautiful new housing development that all neighborhoods can accommodate, meet our housing obligations, and create a more vibrant and inclusive community. That's the gist of it.
