This Mother’s Day, the Trump administration says it wants more babies. But what about the moms already doing the work?

Instead of meaningful support, women are being handed rhetoric. The White House is considering everything from baby bonuses to federal fellowship preferences for married parents but it’s ignoring the real reasons women delay or forgo children: unaffordable child care, unpaid maternity leave, soaring medical bills, and shrinking reproductive freedoms.

You can’t raise a birth rate by pushing women into motherhood while cutting health programs, gutting paid leave efforts, and waging war on abortion access.

If leaders are serious about supporting families, they need to fund the policies that actually help: universal child care, expanded paid leave, permanent child tax credits, and real maternal health access for all women especially single moms, working moms, and moms in poverty.

We don’t want a bonus. We want a future.
