The Issue
Petition in Support of Meadowview Village
Dear Members of the Planning Commission and City Commissioners,
We, the undersigned, are writing to express our strong support for Meadowview Village near the intersection of Central Ave and 46th Street South. Great Falls is currently suffering from a housing shortage, and attainable homes like these are precisely what this community needs.
Meadowview Village Overview
This project aims to provide 163 new homes, allowing residents of Great Falls the opportunity to own their own homes and land, and build generational wealth for their families.
Addressing Critical Needs
- Housing Shortage: Great Falls has the oldest housing stock of any city in Montana. By adding new housing stock, we address the urgent need for new workforce housing.
- Community Impact: The primary beneficiaries of these homes will be the people of Great Falls, including police officers, school teachers, and grandparents. These individuals deserve the opportunity to buy a home at a reasonable price, enabling them to gain equity over time and contribute to the prosperity of our city.
Economic and Social Benefits
- Generational Wealth: Homeownership is a key factor in building generational wealth. By making homes more attainable, we help families secure their financial future.
- Community Stability: Homeownership fosters a stable and engaged community, which in turn supports local businesses and services.
- Economic Growth: New housing developments stimulate the local economy through job creation in construction and related industries. This property currently generates $117 per year in taxes. When complete, it will generate approximately $500K per year in taxes.
Sustainable and Thoughtful Development
- Environmental Considerations: The majority of homes will be Energy Star Certified, and the construction will use several different sustainable building practices, ensuring energy efficiency and minimal environmental impact.
- Infrastructure Improvements: The project will include enhancements to local infrastructure, such as roads, utilities, and public spaces, benefiting the broader community.
Call to Action
We urge the Planning Commission and City Commissioners to support Meadowview Village. The building of workforce housing at this location will significantly improve the quality of life for many residents and contribute to the long-term success of Great Falls.
